ARMENIANS RETURNING HOME

Armenian Happenings reports the Hamazkaine Dance Group, along with its minders, have crossed the Lebanon border to Jordan by bus, and are set to return home to Australia immediately.

The 80-person troupe, which included four members of the Armenian Youth Federation of Australia, were trapped in Beirut on their return from a performing tour in Armenia since violence broke out in the Middle East late last week.

AYF Australia Chairperson Kevork Tufenkjian said: "This is welcome news, and our prayers have been answered."

"We look forward to seeing our friends return from their ordeal safe and sound."

THE FULL REPORT:

All members and minders of the Hamazkaine Sevan Dance Ensemble have left Beirut.

They crossed the border to Jordan on buses and will travel to Jordan where accommodation has been arranged for a short wait before they fly home to Sydney.

The hush-hush evacuation took place at 2pm (Monday AEST) and the buses crossed the border at approximately 4:30pm.
