Armenian youth from across Sydney gathered at Galstaun College during the evening of the 7th of May to enjoy an outdoor movie night hosted by AYF Australia Nigol Touman Chapter. The event spanned across all age groups and was enjoyed by all, initially screening a film for all ages of the event, followed by a late night 16+ film for the older members present at the event.
This was the first open-air cinema event held by the Social Committee of AYF Nigol Touman and was a success with over 150 people attending the evening with all proceeds heading towards AYF Australia’s Agoomp located in Armenia in the town of Nor-Nork. This will be a significant help to youth in Armenia, as it will allow AYF chapters to hold Youth Corps programs in our motherland.
Youth Corps programs held by AYF chapters across the world serve a great benefit to children in Armenia, especially those who are disadvantaged due to factors that impede their lives such as war or hardship. The Youth Corps program allows Armenian children to take place in camps throughout the summer to learn valuable skills such as learning English as well as having fun with activities held throughout the camp by members of the AYF community.
Proceeds from the Outdoor Movie Night will be a large help in making this a memorable summer for Armenian children as AYF Australia travels to Armenia this July to run the Youth Corps program for the first time.
