The ascent into the mountains of Artsakh evoked the most engulfing warmth i have ever experienced. As you get deeper into the region, it's almost as if you're being embraced and welcomed by a long lost relative. The grass was a touch greener, the flowers more vibrant and the Suns Ray's were slightly warmer.

The Beauty of Gyumri

Day 5 of our trip we embarked on a day trip to Gyumri, the second largest city in Yerevan. The 2 hour bus drive was full of quick power naps, singing sessions, and of course lots of eating. Going to Gyumri, I did not know what to expect although I had heard it was a mini replica of Yerevan. There were definite physical similarities between the two cities but Gyumri had a special spark, a beautiful rawness to it that stems from the people there.

Beginning a new journey

Last year I was one of 5 AYF Australia ungers who joined AYF West Coasts Youth Corps program last year in 2015. Being able to come back this year and initiate Australia's first youth corps program this year is a feeling I will never be able to explain properly. Knowing there are another 25 people this year who will be able to experience what I did excites me as it was a life changing experience.
